"I wasn't concerned with the vtc. They kick in ~3000 rpm to retard the valve timing and increase the c/r. I'm pretty sure the advanced valve timing, under 3k rpm, is utilized to lower the c/r to prevent detonation under low speed / high load operating conditions." I'm pretty sure Compression Ratio doesn't change ethier.
